Customizable AI for Electronics Automation
Easily adapt to new customer requests, new product types or small batches
As a single universal model for all your customers simply doesn’t exist, empowering end customers to fine-tune their AI models is the only effective way to achieve organic scalability of the inspection system.
AOI
All Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) systems share a common challenge: setup time. This issue is particularly critical in low-volume, high-mix PCBA production, where up to two hours of AOI machine configuration and calibration can significantly impact the total profit margin. That’s why manual visual inspection is still widely used, especially when industry requirements are stringent and the costs of non-quality–such as in space and medical industries–are high.
The Robovision AI platform helps AOI machine builders to industrialize customization, avoiding endless scaling of vision teams for end customer support. For AOI machine builders, this means they can increase market share by accessing low-volume assembled printed circuit boards (PCBA) manufacturers.
Compared to classical computer vision, a computer vision AI model also results in less false calls, lower setup time, and higher resistance to environmental noise. For example, if you use the Robovision platform for PCBA quality control, missing or incorrect components, polarity or soldering issues can all be detected with a combination of low setup time (less than 5 minutes) and high resistance to environmental noise such as humidity and light conditions.
Digital Microscopes
Digital microscopy is a rapidly growing market, as optical microscopes are being replaced by digital and stereo imaging. By powering digital microscopes with the Robovision AI platform, the inspection process can be automated and streamlined.
Adding the detection of various PCBA defects directly on the screen of the digital microscope significantly improves both the quality and throughput of the inspection workspace. Instead of just magnifying images, Robovision-powered digital microscopes can also interpret them, providing significant added value for customers.
X-ray inspection
Electronics are increasingly complex, and so are PCBA defect inspection and classification. Some Ball Grid Array (BGA) components are even impossible to inspect after soldering.
Interpreting X-ray outputs, boosting productivity, and an expanding scope of non-destructive analysis are key challenges in complex PCBA manufacturing. Currently, PCBA manufacturers struggle to perform full batch X-ray inspections due to system throughput limitations. Typically, only the first item in a batch is inspected, with deeper inspections reserved for claims.
Combining industrial X-ray machines with the Robovision AI platform enables full production batch defect detection, transforming the X-ray machine from a mere spot inspection tool into an integral part of the production process.
Defects that can be detected:
- Solder bridges
- Non-alignment
- Solder voids
- Solder splats
Computer Vision AI to production with a single platform
By removing the downtime risk and costly changes caused by dependency on IT or external consultancy services, our customers are continuously discovering how to leverage vision AI and the Robovision Platform for more cost savings and revenue growth.
Change-embracing
Whether variations in SKU type, shifts on the machine floor or needing to track new defects: change is constant in demanding production environments. Our platform helps you to deal with change without requiring additional effort from data scientists or developers.
Effortless AI Lifecycle Management
AI models can become inaccurate over time due (data drift) and production requirements can change. That’s why, in an ideal world, everything from data collection to training, analytics and retraining is managed in one environment, the Robovision AI Platform.
Empowering Operators
Our award-winning interface empowers operators (the true product and process experts) to easily retrain models whenever needed. This impacts Operational Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), production yield, and cycle time.
Maintainability and Scalability
Our robust infrastructure allows for seamless scalability, enabling businesses to grow without compromising performance.
Integration-first
The final step in the end-to-end workflow is to bring AI to the real world by closing the deployment gap. Robovision offers extensive platform and Edge integration methods with both SDK and API integration possibilities. Cloud-based, on-premises or as part of a customer’s system, companies can easily implement AI models with our flexible deployment options.
