Higher efficiencies with computational pathology in KI-67 staining analysis of ovarian cancer

KI-67 is a common staining technique for the observation of cell proliferation to detect carcinogenesis. It’s used in all cancer diagnostics to measure the number of cancer cells that are present. We bring an 8-hour tedious calculation to an automatic quantification in a matter of minutes.

Virtual microscopy images are typically very large with only small cells that are interesting to pathologists. This makes the clustering and counting process of cells a tedious and time consuming job. Our goal is to quickly determine the size of different cell clusters and check if the clusters are potentially cancerous.

 

In order to translate these large images into useful information for pathologists, our data scientists need their input to correctly identify and classify cells and cell clusters.
